Naturopathic Treatments

Naturopathic Physicians are educated in and utilize many kinds of treatments. Some are cross-trained as Medical Doctors or Osteopathic Physicians and have the full range of medical treatments at their disposal, too. There are several naturopathic treatments that are often used.

Nutrition and Food Supplements

Nutrition is at the heart of naturopathy. Many illnesses are caused by toxins from food that we eat, and nutritional treatments may be prescribed to eliminate toxins. Dietary prescriptions may also help reach and maintain ideal weight and correct metabolic imbalances.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses the application of hot and cold water to regulate blood flow through certain organs, especially the digestive organs. This helps carry toxins away so that they can be eliminated.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy stimulates the immune system with tiny amounts of natural substances to build up immunity to them.

Herbs

Herbs are naturally occurring medicinal plants. Naturopaths prescribe herbs to help balance and heal specific problems.

Chinese Medicine

Chinese medicine is very complementary to naturopathic medicine because they share many treatment modalities. Naturopaths trained in Chinese medicine will use Chinese herbs in addition to traditional ones, and will use acupuncture and acupressure to treat problems.

Manipulative Therapy

Naturopathic manipulation is similar to chiropractic or massage therapy. Both the skeleton and soft tissues are manipulated to bring the body into natural alignment and help it heal itself.
